I was born in manhattan in the early 1930's so going to the Automat for lunch was as natural for my mother and me as having a latte at a coffee shop is for me now. On a regular basis my mom and I had lunch near Times Square at an Automat and then went over to Radio City Music hall to see the Rockettes and a movie-perhaps National Velvet or Lassie Come Home, plus many others over the years. The Library exhibit brought back so many wonderful memories and if I could do so I would be in N.Y. now attending that show. Sincerely, Joyce |
