Portrait of Alexander Woollcott

Dublin Core

Title Portrait of Alexander Woollcott
Description Alexander Woollcott (1887-1943) was a famously sharp-tongued drama critic for The New York Times and the person chiefly responsible for the Algonquin Round Table lunches. When a press agent invited him and several of his friends to lunch at the Algonquin, Woollcott had such a good time that he insisted they all meet again at the same place. They did--and lunch lasted a decade.
