The Pleasure of Doing Business New York

Dublin Core

Title The Pleasure of Doing Business New York
Description The Rockefeller Center Luncheon Club opened in 1934 on the 65th floor of Rockefeller Center, using spaces that became the glamorous Rainbow Room at night. During the 1970s, members of the Luncheon Club gathered at the Rainbow Grill, where, if they did not have time for a leisurely meal, they could visit the "sumptuous buffet." (Notice that the Grill menu offered only full or half bottles of wine; the era of fine wine by the glass had not yet arrived). When Joe Baum of Restaurant Associates renovated the Rainbow Room in the mid 1980s, he updated the Luncheon Club as well. “Several factors seem to influence a Business Person’s decision to seek membership in a Business/ luncheon Club," advised the author of a 1987 memo on membership strategies. "Primary among them: Status Profit Pleasure."
