"4'33"," interpreted by The Anta Project

Description:

The Anta Project sonically transforms the US/Mexico Border Wall and Sound Ecology through performance. This release of John Cage's "4'33"," as arranged by Glenn Weyant for the Nogales Arizona/Sonora Border Wall and International Landscape, transforms the wall from a symbol of fear and loathing into an instrument. In his notes on "4'33"," Cage stated the work need not be beholden to either a timeframe or an instrument. Hence, this interpretation's audio version runs well past four minutes and 33 seconds. The performers would like to note that this performance began "long before it started and continues as we speak." The creaks, pops, and groans occur as the morning sun heats the Nogales Wall and are audible to the ear without any amplification or alteration. The performers encourage viewers to visit the Nogales Wall to hear it for themselves, in real time.
